Premium melange yarn in 11 compositions — grey melange, heather melange, siro, neppy, open-end, PC melange, organic, and triblend. Manufactured in Pakistan for global export.
Abtex International (Pvt.) Ltd. is a leading melange yarn supplier and manufacturer from Pakistan, exporting to buyers across Europe, Asia, and the Americas with GRS, Oeko-Tex, and Inditex certifications.
Melange yarn is created by blending differently-coloured fibres — typically dyed and raw (undyed) fibres — before the spinning process. The result is a yarn with a characteristic heathered, mottled appearance that cannot be replicated by post-spin dyeing.
The depth of the melange effect is controlled by the percentage of dyed fibre in the blend. A higher dyed% produces a darker charcoal tone; a lower dyed% yields a lighter silver-grey. This makes melange yarn extremely versatile for achieving tonal and gradient fabric effects.
Unlike conventional dyed yarn, melange yarn has excellent colourfastness because the colour is in the fibre itself — not applied to the yarn surface. It is widely used in T-shirts, knitwear, sportswear, hosiery, and home textiles where a rich, textured heather look is desired.
At Abtex International, our melange yarn is available in ring-spun and open-end spinning, across Ne 6s to Ne 40s, in both single and plied constructions. View our quality control →
All 11 melange yarn varieties are available from stock or on a make-to-order basis. Custom counts, compositions, and blending ratios on request.
The most popular melange yarn — blending grey dyed cotton with raw white cotton before spinning. Available in light grey (5–10%) to dark charcoal (50–70% dyed). Ideal for T-shirts, sweatshirts, and knitwear.
Heather melange blends multiple coloured fibres to produce a multi-dimensional heather tone — softer and more complex than plain grey melange. Popular for premium knitwear, fashion basics, and athleisure fabrics.
Open-end (rotor) spun melange — more economical than ring-spun, with a coarser hand feel suited to fleece, terry, and industrial knitting. Available in coarse counts with consistent grey blending throughout.
Siro spinning combines two slightly twisted strands simultaneously — producing a yarn with lower hairiness and a cleaner heather effect. Improved strength over ring-spun. Popular in woven and fine knitwear applications where a clean surface is required.
Neppy melange incorporates small coloured nep clusters distributed throughout the melange base — adding distinctive texture and visual interest. Nep size, density, and colour are all customisable. Popular for fashion knitwear and distinctive casual wear.
Siro spinning combined with slub injection — producing a melange yarn with alternating thick and thin sections over the heathered base. The slub pattern adds a natural, irregular texture. Customisable slub pitch and frequency available.
Polyester-cotton melange blends PET fibre with cotton in the melange mix — delivering improved durability, shape retention, and moisture-wicking while retaining the heather appearance. Common ratios: 65/35 and 52/48 PC. Popular for uniforms and performance basics.
Made from certified organic or GRS recycled cotton fibres blended to produce eco-certified melange yarn. Full chain-of-custody documentation available. Ideal for sustainable fashion brands and certified supply chains requiring organic or recycled content claims.
Triblend melange combines cotton, polyester, and viscose fibres in the melange blend. The tri-component mix delivers a soft, drapey hand feel with the heather appearance of melange. Common ratio: 50/25/25 Cotton/Polyester/Viscose. Popular for premium T-shirts and fashion knitwear.
A two-component melange blending polyester and viscose fibres with injection effect. The polyester provides durability; viscose adds softness, lustre, and drape. The yarn has a silky heather appearance suited to lightweight fabrics, blouses, and dresswear knitwear.
Marl / Jaspe yarn is created by twisting two different-coloured single yarns together — producing a distinctive spiral two-colour effect. Also available as Siro / Mouline / Jaspe combination yarns. Gives a structured, rope-like heather visual distinct from conventional fibre-blended melange.
