Gassed mercerized yarn from Abtex International is a premium 100% cotton yarn engineered for high-end knitting and weaving applications. Our gassed mercerized yarn combines gas singeing — which removes surface fibres for a smooth, lint-free finish — with mercerizing under caustic soda and tension, delivering exceptional luster, tensile strength, and dye vibrancy. Available in both combed and carded constructions, our gassed mercerized yarn is supplied in 6 standard multi-ply counts: NE 5/3, NE 8/3, NE 8/5, NE 12/3, NE 16/3, and NE 6/4. All packing is on cones for seamless integration with high-speed machines. We also supply dyed yarns and other specialty cotton yarns for diverse textile applications across 35+ countries.

Our Gassed Mercerized Yarn Range

Two core yarn types — Combed and Carded — each available in Raw (grey) and Dyed finishes, all packed in cones for trouble-free machine feeding.

Combed Gassed Mercerized Cotton Yarn

Combed Gassed Mercerized Yarn

Short fibres removed before spinning — then gassed over an open flame and mercerized for outstanding lustre, strength, and dye uptake. The premium choice for high-end end-uses.

NE 5/3 – 16/3 Raw & Dyed High Lustre Cones
Carded Gassed Mercerized Cotton Yarn

Carded Gassed Mercerized Yarn

Cost-effective carded cotton — gassed for a smooth surface and mercerized for improved strength and sheen. Consistent quality at an economical price point for volume orders.

NE 5/3 – 16/3 Raw & Dyed Good Strength Cones
Dyed Gassed Mercerized Cotton Yarn

Dyed Gassed Mercerized Yarn

Mercerizing opens the fibre structure before dyeing — enabling deeper colour penetration, brighter shades, and superior wash fastness. PANTONE shades matched as per customer requirement.

Why Choose Abtex Gassed Mercerized Yarn

The gassing + mercerizing process delivers properties no standard yarn can match.

Superior Lustre & Sheen

Mercerization restructures cotton fibres to reflect light uniformly — delivering a silk-like gloss impossible to achieve with regular yarn.

💪

Increased Tensile Strength

Caustic soda treatment under tension increases yarn strength by up to 25%, reducing end-breakages during weaving and knitting.

🎨

Enhanced Dye Uptake

Mercerized cotton absorbs dye more readily — producing vivid, even shades with excellent wash and light fastness tested to ISO 105.

🧹

Pilling-Free Surface

Gassing burns off protruding surface fibres, creating a smooth, clean yarn that resists pilling in the finished fabric.

📦

Cone Packing

Supplied in cones for trouble-free feeding into circular knitting, flat-bed, and weaving machines. Carton and pallet packing for export.

Fast Turnaround

Lab dip approval within 5 working days; bulk production dispatched in 4–6 weeks of shade sign-off. Reliable delivery to mills worldwide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about our Gassed Mercerized Yarn.

Gassed (singed) yarn has been passed rapidly over a gas flame to burn off surface fibres — reducing hairiness and creating a smooth, clean surface. Mercerizing then treats the yarn with caustic soda under tension, permanently swelling the cotton fibre to increase lustre, strength, and dye affinity. The result is a silk-like, stronger, brighter yarn compared to standard ring-spun cotton.
We offer NE 5/3, NE 6/4, NE 8/3, NE 8/5, NE 12/3, and NE 16/3. These heavier multi-ply constructions are used in mop yarn, cleaning yarn, rug and carpet yarn, hand knitting, specialty woven fabrics, home textiles, and decorative products where bulk, strength, and a premium finish are required.
Combed yarn has short fibres removed before spinning, resulting in a finer, stronger, more uniform yarn with superior lustre after gassing and mercerizing. Carded yarn retains more fibre variety, giving a slightly bulkier texture at a more economical price. Both receive the same gassing and mercerizing treatment.
Yes. We offer dyed gassed mercerized yarn in any shade as per your PANTONE code or physical swatch. Lab dips are provided within 5 working days. Because the fibre is mercerized before dyeing, colour penetration is deeper and wash fastness is excellent — tested to ISO 105 standards.
Gassed mercerized yarn is supplied in cones. Carton and pallet packing is available for export shipments by sea or air freight. Cone weights can be specified as per your machine requirements — share your preferences when requesting a quote.
Please contact us with your specific count, ply, and finish (raw or dyed) and we will advise the MOQ and lead time. For dyed yarn, lab dip approval is within 5 working days; bulk production is dispatched in 4–6 weeks from shade sign-off.
